UPDATED WITH A NEW SCAN, COURTESY OF MY NEW SCANNER. YAY! Now you can see the details my old scanner didn’t pick up. Title: “Two flowers”Yes, another ballpoint pen picture with a flower theme. I’m super annoyed by this one. Not because the work looks bad. I think it looks pretty nice, but because my damn scanner refuses to pick up on the delicate and faint shading in several places. First of all, both the girl and the vase are casting a vague shadow! The image loses a lot because of that alone. So yeah, I think I need a new scanner. I’ve usually been fine with the scanner’s quirks, but this time it’s doing way too much bad.Anyways, the picture turned out more or less as I planned it, but it’s not quite as striking as I had hoped. Basically, if it’s not apparent, with the lack of colors and all, the vase with the flower and the girl are meant to share similarities, hence the title. The top of the vase is shaped a bit like the girl’s shirt is worn, higher on one side, lower on the other. The flower bud has similar shapes as the girl’s ribbon. The girl’s hair has curly spikes, reminiscent of the leaves on the flower. Both have a row of flowers on their ‘waist’, the girl’s being on her belt. The vase gets wider around the same area as the girl’s hips, and its bottom is close to where the girl’s skirt ends. Below that are legs, human’s, or pedestal’s. Umm… I guess I ended up mentioning everything. ;pI was originally planning to have no background at all, but like is my habit, I just had to add something. Sadly, I think it makes the picture look too busy. It looked more elegant with just the girl and the flower vase, nothing else to disturb that balance. Oh well, live and learn. Sometimes less it better.Mostly a direct scan, but I did edit the eyes a very tiny bit.© HitmanN 2016Ballpoint pen on sketchbook -- source link
