merlination:#People criticise this show for its writing a lot#it’s for FAMILIES#it’s just some stupid fantasy show#but you know what#its moments like this that prove that its not#its moments like this when you see just how psychologically complex this adorable dimpled dragon-riding warlock is#he’s always so confident#so brave#telling Gilli or whatever the fuck his name is that yes#one day magic WILL come back to Camelot#it’ll be worth it I promise you#telling Mordred that he’s fighting for something#telling Lancelot has has a destiny that he must fulfil#but then there are these moments#when you realise that that confidence was just a mask#he’s just a scared little boy inside#someone who has been called useless and stupid all his life#someone who is trying so hard to fulfil something he’s not even sure is real#this is him trying to convince himself#’I’m not entirely useless you know’#GOD FUCKING DAMMIT BABY YOU PRECIOUS CUPCAKE YOU DESERVE SO MUCH MORE THAN YOU GOT (via x)This is why I love this show!!! I am at a point now where I love the fandom much more than I could ever possibly love the show, because yeah, it’s a family show, and it can be silly, and they made tons of mistakes. But even so, the more I consume the fandom and our crazy, long ass essays about every single thing that happened, the more I love the actual show because all the things we see are there. All these deep incredibly complex things are all there. Just like we see past Merlin’s mask, you just gotta see past the show’s mask. It’s not a light merry little thing, it’s heartbreaking, it’s pain, it’s frustration, it’s hair pulling and anger. This show is so much more intense than I ever would’ve thought. It destroyed me, I’m still suffering. But I can’t imagine not having it anymore -- source link
