João Burini I will likely be using this photo for my presentation for years if you’ll allow it— it is so beautiful and so perfect. Many spiders in the family Theridiidae build these wonderful globe-shaped webs. Interestingly studies have shown that they actually function as a defensive structure against wasp predators (see Blackledge’s work). We find these webs all over the place in the tropics- and they’re never any less amazing than the first time you discover them.Don’t worry- you likely have some species in your area that build similar webs- they are tiny- sometimes ya just gotta pay attention ;) -- source link
