DO NOT REBLOG IN NSFW, 18+ (Porno, Naked), AND not in TRASH BLOGS, racism, politic, guns/wars blogs, thanks. The Löwenturm (Lion’s Tower) in München / GermanyWalking around in the city, like everywhere in Europe, there are many old buildings, ruins from the Middle Age or from the Romans, above it’s an old tower, according to current research, the construction of the lion tower started in the 14th century, it could be even older, some says from the 12 century, but still today no one knows the real function the tower had, the street is called Rindermarkt, it means cattle market, because in the past they had the cattle market on that street, who’s one of the oldest streets in München. The tower has left many open secrets for the city of Munich. The building dates back to the Middle Ages and is therefore one of the oldest buildings in the city. However, for a long time, the spirits fought over the function of the tower: many people thought it was a remnant of the old city wall, but it never ran so close to the Rindermarkt. Others thought it was a water tower. Until 1945 the tower was walled in on three sides, and its rooms were used by the inhabitants of the surrounding houses. However, after the demolition of the buildings and the instability of the tower, a fundamental renovation had to be carried out, which revealed the secret: the interior walls of the tower are full of late Gothic paintings of the coats of arms of rich families. Thus, the Lion’s Tower was once a kind of gender tower.Unfortunately the tower cannot be visited.Today where the market took place, there is a pond, you can see above a picture how it looks like, it’s in front of the tower. There are cow statues. Nice place to relax, you can seat and put your feet in the water when it’s hot in Summer. :-)Thank you :-) @itsstreetlove, @nobodysperfect2133. -- source link
