(Thursday, 22. May) There’s not too much to tell about what we did yesterday. We went to two malls to do some shopping (didn’t buy much though, since we’re both no fashion nuts, basically we only buy what we need. HK does have some very cute and cheap clothes though). In the second mall, we were browsing through a book store when my boyfriend drew my attention to a book with a cute, cream-colored British Shorthair cat on it. Some of you might know that I am a big fan of Maru, the Japanese cat famous for sliding/jumping into boxes, so seeing another cat being the star of its own book did not surprise me. Sadly the book was in Chinese so I couldn’t really figure out what it was about. Fast forward a few hours, we just had dinner and also bought some snack to eat later on our room, when I caught a glimpse of a familiar furry face outside of a small street shop. On the photo above you can see what it says, and of course, it’s the same cat from the book we saw before. Newspaper clippings and merchandise within the shop made it clear that this cat’s name is Cream Bro / Brother Cream and that he is Hong Kong’s most famous cat. Instead of spamming you with cellphone pics and recounting the story, I’ll link you to this article, which basically tells you everything you need to know. I was pretty amazed by this. The shop is literally across the street from our hotel and just the day before I had complained to my boyfriend about how few (read: none) cats we’ve seen so far on this vacation. I bought some merchandise and watched Cream Bro sleep in a little house. I dunno, this might not be exciting for most people but it really made my day. -- source link
