vincents-crows:I made a sample! I haven’t settled on what exactly the bottom edge will look like, but I’m mostly finished the design I’ve been working on for a late 18th century embroidered waistcoat with a forest floor theme.Today I finished embroidering a sample of one border motif and some sprigs, and I’m very happy with it! It’s in cotton floss because I don’t have any proper embroidery silks. (Nor do I have an embroidery frame, so it may be quite some time before I can start on the actual waistcoat.)The last photo shows a few of the sketches, and the tracing paper I used to help sort out the spacing.Well, I’m now officially going to be doing this in September! It’s the project I’ll be working on for the Hoyt House Residency from September 9th-29th, so I’d better get dyeing threads and making shorter bars for my quilting frame so it can be used for embroidery. Not sure what proportion of it I’ll get done in the 2 weeks I’ll be there, but we’ll see! -- source link
