mizzmarvel: bettyandveronicafashions: pluckyredhead: bettyandveronicafashions: siryouarebeingmocked: “#juggie #jughead #jughead jones #ethel #big ethel #archie comics#feminism” It occurs to me that Big Ethel is the epitomie of a “Nice Girl”. Except she’s basically a stalker, and was never even, friends with Juggie, and actually does think she deserves Jughead. Here we see her upgrading to potential sexual assault. Lol, wacky comics. hay gurl, just a heads up that the feminism tag is a tip of the hat to my number one supreme babe, Jughead Jones, for letting his potential molester know he ain’t down to clown. Feminism is also about dudes feeling safe, desired, willing and wanting during their sexual encounters too! It is about men not feeling pressured to be a male archetype and refuse sex without shame or consequence. It is about them expressing themselvesin feminine ways if they so wish and being open to feminity in their peers. Basically, Jughead is a poster boy for feminism - even if he thinks women are g-r-o-s-s. Thanks for your assumptions! xoxo,Me not to Ethel. Man who hates women = “poster boy for feminism.” ???????? I do not think Jughead hates women though he proclaims himself a “woman hater” we only ever see him shrug off dates. He is just, generally, not interested in dating them. He thinks they’re “gross” as in, not particularly into making out and stuff. He has a fondness for Betty and has shown his soft side to different female characters as well as stood up for those who have been picked on or made to feel less than. He is a thoughtful, reserved (unless food is around) character. Archie and Reggie, though they supposedly “love” and are attracted to women are the real doinks.Especially Reggie “just push it” Mantle. I agree that Archie and Reggie are awful, but I don’t particularly see how Jughead turning down Ethel makes him a feminist. I think a lot’s being read into this scene that isn’t necessarily there—not excusing Ethel, though, as she’s undoubtedly coming on too strong—and the fact is that a man turning down a woman isn’t the loaded and potentially dangerous situation it can be for a woman, no matter what his feelings are regarding displaying some level level of femininity (which, in this very out of context and limited panel, we don’t see any hint of from Jughead). In this particular dynamic it can be. We have seen Ethel catch Jughead with traps, tie him up, pick him up and carry him into dances, bribe him for affection, cry to her peers when she is rejected, get the gang to bully Jughead into taking her on dates and so forth.Other members of the group participate in these behaviors but for Jughead and Ethel it is nearly one-sided.It is supposed to be funny but for me, especially because Jughead is often the most sensitive male of the group aside from Dilton, it is an interesting turn. I am not speaking to EVERYTHING EVER with this notion that Jughead is a feminist just witin the realm of Archie and ignoring where some rogue writer made him mean-spirited - that is clearly Reggie’s job. -- source link
