This is the organization I’m working for for the summer. The summit is going to be really dope, so you should make sure it gets screened where you are! creativetime: Calling all Universities, Art Centers, and Social Justice Organizations: Creative Time is looking for partners to host satellite screenings of the Creative Time Summit this fall! Creative Time would love for you to partner with us in presenting our fourth annual Creative Time Summit on October 12th and 13th, 2012. As you may already know, the Summit brings together socially engaged artists, activists, curators, scholars, and grassroots organizations to discuss how their work engages pressing issues affecting our world. Over the last three years we have built a truly global community that has made it clear to us that this conference is invaluable for forging new relationships as well as deepening existing dialogues and networks. This year’s Summit, to be held at NYU’s Skirball Center, will draw a live audience of 1,000 participants from all over the world as well as an additional 10,000 remote viewers per day experiencing it online via Livestream. In addition to individual viewers watching the Summit live on their home computers, we work with a network of national and international partners to host satellite screenings promoted by Creative Time on our website (http://creativetime.org/programs/archive/2010/summit/WP/) and in our printed material. Last year satellite screenings were hosted in locations from California and Virginia and Israel to Delhi. Being a Summit partner is simple: the only thing required is a reliable internet connection, a projector and a screen, and room for people to come together. Your connection speed can be tested by streaming anything on www.livestream.com, which is the site we use to stream the summit on our homepage. You are welcome to promote the event to your students and community however you would like and Creative Time will even provide you with a downloadable poster to which you can add all of your event details. You are also welcome to bring in your own speakers to introduce the Summit at your venue or moderators to lead follow up conversations or instigate discussions during breaks. Why do this? Because, like us, you believe in advancing dialogue around social practice art, and for those people who are not able to attend the Summit in NYC, this is an opportunity to share information, discuss, debate, and collaborate. Just imagine what could happen if there was a place for all of the tens of thousands of people around the world that watch the Summit live online to come together and engage in the program with others! We really hope you will consider being a satellite host for the fourth Creative Time Summit. Please contact summit2012@creativetime.org with us with any questions, thoughts, or ideas.
