reelaroundthedavekan: dailychrisevans: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) I’m sorry, I love this movie and it may be my favorite, but this moment bothered me. Are you telling me that Natasha doesn’t know who Peggy Carter is? Are you saying she doesn’t have this same picture framed and in every safe house she’s set up? Are you saying that the Black Widow doesn’t recognize the woman that started SHIELD? The only explanation is that she is playing dumb, but that doesn’t make sense either. She knows who Peggy is and she knows what she means to Steve. She has read every scrap of info in his file, she knows his history and she knows what Peggy means to Steve. Of course she knows who Peggy is. But this comes straight off the ‘truth is a matter of circumstance/who do you want me to be/a friend’ conversation, Nat is basically calling Steve’s bluff here to see if he trusts her enough to talk to her. He doesn’t, and he might not want to admit that, but he proves it by clamming up. Later, she outright asks if he trusts her and he’s honest with her when he says he does 'now.’ Nat’s whole arc in this film is about trust. -- source link
