liberalsarecool:cuzyouwanttotakemypicture:Truth be toldWe have a Super-PAC laden, post-Citizens United, pro-oligarchy landscape built for Hillary. When Obama raised all that money in 2008, Republicans shit themselves. The GOP knew they could not compete with Democratic populism so Citizens United was crafted in 2010 for the Roberts’ SCOTUS to govern from the bench [see judicial activism], and allow unlimited corporate donations and unlimited dark money in campaigns.2012 saw the first Super-PACS and billionaire-funded candidates, and now 2016 has a billionaire as a GOP candidate and Hillary as a center-right Republican-in-waiting. 2016 is the last election cycle someone like Hillary can get elected. The left wing is moving to the left without her. Young voters have outright rejected her. She is stuck on the right, cashing checks for Goldman Sachs and preaching triangulation to please her donors.Progressives want a ‘new deal democrat’ like Bernie Sanders to keep the country moving left and galvanize the social safety net, make health care a right, and change college tuition so students can attend state schools and not incur thousands in debt.Hillary is famous, she has a rolodex full of corporate/Wall St heavy hitters. It’s not at all odd she would be leading to start. But her ego is not going to change the system. One person does not change the system. We need an entire progressive revolution to take over and Hillary is not a part of that movement. The end of the 2016 primary season is all Bernie. California could put Bernie in a tie for pledged delegates. Hillary’s strong start is not as compelling as Bernie’s strong finish. The more the voters see the candidates, the more they prefer Bernie. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Bernie was not going to lead from the start, but winning is about the long game, and Bernie’s long game looks great.Register. Vote. Donate. -- source link
