A Story of Yonosuke Saturday, July 13, 12:30 PM (160 min.) It’s the late 1980’s and Yonosuke has just arrived in Tokyo. As precocious and outspoken as he is hapless and naive, Yonosuke repels a lot of people with his obnoxious tenacity. After a while, however, he manages to begin assembling a close knit group of friends, and it is at this point that the movie jumps forward twenty years. We won’t divulge what happens afterwards, but needless to say it’s a twist that director Shuichi Okita handles with utmost deftness, and it is this development that elevates A Story of Yonosuke from being a simply charming film to something much more profound. This heart-warming film is having it’s North American premiere as part of JAPAN CUTS on July 13th at 12:30.
