bejeweledfoundation:Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna’s Emerald & Diamond KokoshnikMade for Princess Elizabeth of Hesse (sister of Alix, the future Tsarina), as a wedding present from her new husband Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich using stones that belonged to his mother, by Bolin. The tiara was passed through several royal women, Russia to Sweden to Russia to Yugoslavia, all who had difficult, unhappy lives, and in the case of Grand Duchess Elizabeth, met sticky ends. It is currently owned by Van Cleef & Arpels in New York. The tiara contains seven large circular cabochon emeralds surrounded by diamonds in geometric designs that characterized Romanov jewels and objects d’art near the end of the dynasty. Small lilies of the valley (or tulips, discern for yourself) representing sweetness and love are tucked into the design. The mounting and frame are in gold and silver.(x) -- source link
