Whipping Tom, The Serial Spanker of London,Most people are familiar with Jack the Ripper, the blood thirty serial killer who murdered at least 5 women in Victorian Era London.  Few however remember Whipping Tom, another predator who stalked the streets in the late 17th century.  Whipping Tom was infamous for ambushing and spanking unaccompanied women while yelling “Spanko!” at the top of his lungs.  Wearing all black with a black mask, he always escaped before being captured.  As a result of his attacks, women began to carry concealed weapons, while constables and vigilantes dressed as women in hopes of catching the vile bandit.  Regardless, Whipping Tom was never captured, and his identity forever remains a mystery. -- source link
