Hanae Mori evening dress, circa 1974 I find this evening gown particularly interesting because it depicts two women as seen in Ukiyo-e, a style of Japanese wood block prints. And especially because Hanae Mori is a prominent fashion designer from Japan who incorporated motifs found in asian art into her work. She is a fine example of a designer who’s included aspects of their culture and heritage in their garments and turned it into something new and different (and without trivializing it). -- source link
