theinternetisfulloftrash:blue-eyedbeta: #okay#I would like to take a moment to talk about how this moment speaks so well to the underrated talents of Dylan Rhodes O'Brien#It’s easy to say ‘OH Stiles is a comedic role… that’s so easy to ham up and stand out when other characters are more series’#no#look at him here#look at the subtlety and nuance in the way he moves in just this tiny scene#the choice to throw the bag when he opens the lid#the way he moves his forehead and squints#the little spit he does#the stutter of his arms#his physical comedy skills are never appreciated enough imo#and what’s most impressive in the end is his FUCKING RANGE#how are you gonna go from flippy floppy rubber stiles to void?????#anyone who thinks stiles is overrated can literally eat my entire ass#for weeks#teen wolf#stiles stilinkski#analysis post#also… this is a TRASHY kinda gif@theinternetisfulloftrash how dare you hide this awesome running commentary in your tags!Let me tell you. Dylan’s bodily control even at 19 is just so god damned amazing. Yes, Stiles is an incredibly awkward character that flails and falls and drops shit. BUT IT’S NOT EASY TO DO THAT WHILE -THINKING- ABOUT HAVING TO DO IT. And you’re right, he goes from Stiles to Void to VOID TRYING TO ACT LIKE STILES so seamlessly that it’s just a work of art in and of its own and he is so underappreciated for it.There is a reason that Void in Derek’s loft is my FAVORITE scene in all of Teen wolf. It’s because it shows the range that he’s capable of. From Void just trying to be Stiles and attempting to use his connections to garner sympathy from Derek, Allison, Chris and Noah, and obviously failing the second the cuffs are put on him because everyone realizes he’s too still about it (the only real movement is a slight tremor in his hands) to the heavy action of catching a tazer bolt in mid air, flinging that across the room, and GRABBING AND THROWING A CHARGING WEREWOLF BY THE BODY, DISARMING HIM AND THEN THROWING HIM INTO A SUPPORT POST To this incredibly subtle, telling bit of reacting to Chris’ raised weapon and Noah raising his own gun to defend his only child and the drama that causeslike “oh yes I did not anticipate this good of a meal ” just the delighted surprise and the sucking in of his breath. Even the little raise of his eyebrows. It’s all just so golden. And can we just take a minute to talk about a kid that went from being known for his comedy on YOUTUBE to this insanely refined bit of acting in a roll that was supposed to be supportive but ENDED UP WITH AN ENTIRE HALF OF A SEASON CHARACTER ARC THAT PEOPLE ARE STILL UPSET DIDN’T HAVE MORE SUBSTANCE YEARS LATER and then that same kid….Which in no way is meant to downplay the physicality of Thomas from the Maze Runner (because we all know what that roll did) or the little psychological things that came out in that role, I mean… And let’s not forget that he went BACK to that same sort of twitchiness from Stiles for Joel in Love and Monsters (because let’s be real, Joel is basically Stiles anyway) and just… This came out more fragmented than I meant it to and I am disappointed with myself for that, but you get my drift. This boy is so vastly underrated and it makes me kind of sad. Hoech too. @blue-eyedbeta exposing my tags! HAHAHAHA! Thank you for appreciating them, and I could not agree with you more. I just cannot say enough good shit about this character and Dylan O'Brien as an actor. He’s just so god-damned TALENTED, dude. That’s not just my thirst talking. He’s just objectively good. He should have way more major roles, and I cannot wait to see where he goes from here. He’s just dope. Get on our level of appreciation, people! -- source link
