“Mutations 2.” Charles Pétillon“With his new project, “Invasions,” the French photographer Charles Pétillon explores our relationship to space and time. In the photographs, beautiful white balloons delicately spill from abandoned structures, ordinary homes and natural environments, recontextualizing them as spectacular sculptures. By adding this uncanny element to seemingly mundane scenery, Pétillon challenges our notion of the visual experience, forcing us to see beyond our expectations. On their own, these locations are “only an abstract, limitless space, void of sense and estranged from all intervention,” Pétillon says. His images, however, offer life and fluidity.Charles Pétillon’s “Invasions” is on view at La Maison de la photographie, Lille, France, through March 22, maisonphoto.com.” -- source link
