ancientarthistory: Mother and Child from Tassili-n-Ajjer - Prehistoric African Algeria, Africa 5000 - 500 BCE The Tassili were a group of people who tried to stick around in the Sahara after it turned into a desert, but they were gone by the year 2000 BCE. Their art was found in caves inside mountains near the Sahara. This rock painting depicts a dog leaning on a woman who is breast feeding a child; this is an everyday scene. It was painted using natural pigments either with their finger or a leaf. She is depicted in a silhouette form that came to be popular in African art later down the line. -- source link
