A name that may sound unfamiliar, but certainly her beautiful voice isn’t. Her hit song ‘Here’ is a radio regular that has the world dancing to a smooth, soulful, R&B sound with an alternative twist. Her new EP, “Four Pink Walls”, released August 28th, and charted in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia. It debuted at #93 and quickly rose to #6 on the Itunes charts.Alessia Caracciolo is a 19 year-old singer-songwriter from Brampton, Canada. She started her career off by posting videos of her singing and playing on Youtube at the age of 13. On starting her career, she said: “It was good because it really eased me into it. It was like a natural growing audience and a natural way to just get more used to it… I also took drama class and I was like in theater and performance art and all that stuff, so I was never shy to act or do anything like that in front of people. But I was so nervous to sing, so I think it was really just getting the singing down. And then once I found the reaction that I was getting from people—they were really supportive of what I did—it was a lot easier to get into it.” Her new EP, “Four Pink Walls”, is described as a “visionary, whimsical, dreamy, smooth album.” It consists of 5 songs, including her radio-hit single, “Here”, which samples from the oldie, “Ike’s Rap II.” SeventeenHer glorious EP starts off with an upbeat bubblegum-pop sound, that is “Seventeen.” It talks about how her dad giving her advice about growing up, “My daddy says that life comes at you fast.” And continues about how she had many of fears about the real world “See I recall being afraid of the dark and holding teddy bears… I’d wrap myself in blankets just to cover me from fears…” She then continues on later in her second verse, “My mother said don’t forget where you come from and where you’ve been…” which goes along perfectly with the theme of the song, which is “Everyone wishes that they grow up, but when they actually do, you want to go back to being a kid,” and “Stay true to your roots,” Which is a great message to send.HereHer most famous song ‘Here’ is the second track in the EP. It is sampled from “Ike’s Rap II” which provides an intense, R&B-soul instrumental. The heavy piano and bass notes add to the dramatic and angsty lyrics of not wanting to be at that party. She writes her feelings of dread and exclusion so perfectly that, well, how can you not want to vibe to this song?OutlawsThis pop anthem for escaping the world and being there for each other, gives an ethereal outlook on life. With it’s happy, rejoicing tune, it takes clever use in a jazzy saxophone to add accents of If you have your friends with you, you can do anything, no matter how different you are. She preaches throughout the song, “Run like your life depends on it, let’s make forever in this moment…” This song does two things very well: it tells you how be free and that you should do it now. It’s affirmative and uplifting.I’m YoursI’m Yours gives us a more vulnerable side to Cara, one that is unsure and dependent. She’s relying on someone else’s love, which was an experience that ended up hurting her. She opens the track with snarky playfulness, “Some nerve you have, to break up my lonely, and tell me you want me? How dare you march into my heart, oh how rude of you…” She then goes on to tell her special someone to treat her with caution because she opened up to them, and she doesn’t want to get hurt. All of this goes with a catchy beat, and her beautiful voice.Four Pink WallsThe final song of EP signifies her progress in her career and in herself. She talks about her intuitive prediction on her rise to fame: “See I knew I was destined for bigger and better but never said a thing…” Later, she sings on how things have changed for the better for her.
