Paris Fashion Week SS16: Day 1 We talked to stylist, Mindy Pelayo, about her favorite PFW shows
Paris Fashion Week SS16: Day 1 We talked to stylist, Mindy Pelayo, about her favorite PFW shows today! The Row SS16: Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s collection this spring summer season showcased pieces that definitely seemed to take inspiration from the 1980’s. The clothing swallowed and spit out the models in the best way possible with deep plunging necklines, extremely billowy sheer dresses, and badass suits. Although down to a minimal, the accessories perfectly topped off each look without having to say much. Sunhats, circle lensed sunglasses, and embroidered slippers exude the high end yet effortless aesthetic the Olsens give off.Dries Van Noten SS16: Bold colors, clashing patterns, and 30s inspired silhouettes, Dries Van Noten’s ready to wear collection is bringing a whole lot to the table this season. The looks are an accumulation of eclectic, jewel toned trench coats, sheer patterned bodysuits, clunky mules, and a take on vintage glam. The patterns embedded into the clothing are rich and silky, all varying in style from baroque to asian inspired prints. In no way we’re the looks coordinated by color or print, but they somehow flowed together with the combination of the model’s 1930’s inspired hair. The shapes of the collection are reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour although perfectly fresh and new for the upcoming spring/summer season.Lemaire SS16: The Spring/Summer collection from Lemaire and Uniqlo is of course simplistic, however the cut of the pieces and variation of the looks fill in the potential lackluster. With a color palette easy to the eye, the individual pieces stand out as the dresses and tops blossom out, the scarves tie looks together, and the bottoms flatter the figure. The overall vibe of the show was clearly influenced by the 60’s/70’s trends circulating in the fashion world, and because Lemaire collaborated with Uniqlo, an affordable retail store, it makes perfect sense as to why this collection has to appeal more to the masses.Picks & Reviews by Mindy Pelayo (photos from left to right) -- source link
