wigs-and-wonder:October 10-16: Indigenous Peoples’ Day! (Part 1/3)This is a day (in the US) to speak out about the stolen land we live on and the indigenous people who were here first and are still here today. Talking about it is important. Show your doll speaking out for this or another important cause. So, for this prompt, I chose to take Kaya with me when my roommate and I went to Skyline Drive, in the Shenandoah Valley. We’re afar from the part of the country where Kaya and her family would’ve lived, but she is my one indigenous doll, and I thought she might appreciate taking a quiet day at the various overlooks and scenic views in the park. (I ended up taking so many pictures, I’m breaking them up into several posts—look for them over the coming week.)According to the National Park System website, “The following Native Tribes are thought to have been active in the Middletown area. The Piedmont Siouans, Catawbas, Shawnee, Delaware, Cherokees, Susquehannocks and the Iroquois. The Iroquois were the Six Nations tribe which included Mohawks, Oneidas, Onondagas, Cayugas, Senecas and later Tuscaroras.” -- source link
