Mbps is “megabits per second”, which is 8 times smaller than a megabyte. That means that a 100 Mbps connection is actually only capable of a max of 12.5 actual megabytes a second download speed. Does it sound confusing? Yes! Because it is supposed to be!It was made BECAUSE they knew that common users wouldn’t know the difference and they could up sell the internet by making these speeds sound absolutely amazing, when they are really much, much slower than they make you think. And because they specify Mbps and not MBps, they aren’t even falsely advertising since *you* are the one who thought it meant something different!Is is incredibly slimy and borderline scammy? Yes!
