I really do.Why are all the actual South Indians/Tamils characterized as really brown fat guys who are obviously in contrast to how good looking Shahrukh and Deepika are?? What the hell is Deepika wearing - is that supposed to be a dhoti??And I simply cannot get over the last poster where Tamils are flying through the air, evil expressions on their faces, looking like cartoonish thugs. I can already see where this is going with them being villianized because they’re dark. With every single actual Tamil being really dark-skinned and that being code for them being either a) dumb, b) evil, c) poor or usually a combination of all three! While our lovely fair North Indian leads are richer and good. Great! And the only good Tamil here will be played by Deepika, who is also actually North Indian. Great! Great way for Deepika to thank Tamils for casting her in a movie with Rajnikanth! Also a great way for Rohit Shetty to completely do in Tamils while still reusing Tamil movies to make crappy Hindi remakes like Singham. I like how they had no problem finding Deepika as the Tamil heroine while the villain is played by a Tamil actor. Maybe they could’ve used this as a rare chance to actually give a Southern actress mainstream coverage (all of SRK’s female heroines are completely interchangeable these days anyway; gone are Kajol/Rani/Madhuri days). What is wrong with Bollywood these days? They happily take from Kollywood basically what they want for remakes; Singham, Rowdy Rathore, Ghajini, Dil Se, Roja, the Thupakki remake, the Ko remake with Kareena and Ajay….and it goes on. And then they turn around and make a big mockery of us…disgusting. Really utterly.And I’m still irritated that this blog would put up this poster without any kind of commentary whatsoever, basically saying, “Look guys, here’s a movie poster that doesn’t treat people in a gross and stereotypical manner!”A+ commentary.Officially done with Bollywood trying to incorporate South India into its films.
