tiny-librarian: ♚Get to Know me Meme, Royalist Edition♚ ♚[1/7] Royal Dresses/Gowns - Hedvig Elisabeth Charlotte’s Wedding Gown♚ This magnificent silver tissue and lace wedding gown was worn by the 15 year old Hedvig Elisabeth Charlotte of Holstein-Gottorp when she married the future Charles XIII of Sweden. The marriage was arranged by the groom’s older brother, King Gustav III, who hadn’t yet consummated his own marriage and was looking to his brother to provide an heir to the throne. It was made in Paris and was the height of fashion at the time, with the enormous panniers typical of court dress. The gown originally had lace sleeves and trim, which have since been removed. -- source link
