some random friday facts for my birthday weekend….(1) in college for my first degree i was vice-president of student government and chairwoman of the judicial board.(2) i was also a resident advisor, volunteer peer counselor, and won the college’s community service award upon graduation.(3) for my 2nd degree i was published for my research i completed with my college mentor, was a selected presenter at the national conference of undergraduate research, and was distinguished university research scholar upon graduation.(4) in addition to my outdoor activities, i was also a flight attendant. we flew out of Pennsylvania on the morning of 9/11 heading to Florida and then L.A., but were grounded in Charlotte. It was absolutely devastating. i was laid off shortly after 9/11 (along with many other airline workers) and that’s when i eventually went back to school (3 years) for my current degree.(5) i know i often seem like a contradiction, but i have dealt with a lot of emotional turmoil over the last decade or so and it has really only been over the past year or so that i have honestly been able to start to try and work through and let go of some of that stuff. i currently feel like i am a person in flux, so to speak; trying to find out who i am now, thinking for myself without others telling me what to think, and trying to figure out what i really want for myself in the future. at the same time, i am still trying to work through some of those old things and learn to trust and be okay with myself and others again. it is a journey and sometimes i make mistakes, and sometimes it can be pretty intimidating and scary, but i personally think that’s okay. growth and change can be scary and intimidating sometimes; that’s part of life. anyway, i am exhausted and i am going to get some rest now. i do hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend….❤️❤️❤️ -- source link
