fyeahbadrperpolarbear: I’m currently in an RPG, and in this I’m doing a para with another player. Our characters have something important to talk about, something that has happened in the characters’ past. So I started the para, and the reply she wrote was actually pretty great. The problem? When we had replied a few times, I realized that her character was thinking and noticing the exact same things as mine. Meaning, if my character noticed something on the floor, hers would do too, even though it was really just to set the mood, or show how bad he was at paying attention. And if he thought about work, hey, suddenly the other character would think about work, too! (And this was without any verbal mention from my character)! Same thing goes with words I used for description. For example, I happened to use a specific word for their situation. It was a word neither one of us had actually used until then. And what happens next? My partner uses the exact same word in her reply. She also has her character react more than act. Our replies tend to be 3-6 paragraphs, and out of those - let’s say - 6 paragraphs, reaction is 5 paragraphs long, and action is 1 paragraph long. Which, of course, leaves all the work to me. ((This is my BIGGEST beef. There’s an amazing Frollo rper I’m following, but s/he’s stuck with this fucking bimbo of an Esmeralda that does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT THIS. I want to rip my hair out every time I see them.)) -- source link
