pixography:Moonassi (Daehyun Kim) ~ “L’île nue”From the artist’s website:“Moonassi is my artist name that I’ve been using since long ago. It can be roughly translated from Korean as “There is no such thing as me”, or “Emptiness / Void in me”. When people call me “Moonassi”, it’s like if they are calling someone who has no identity.” - from an interview with Artchipel. Why black?“All drawings are painted using black ink. There is no special reason I stick to black. I like black for same reason as you like it. It’s simple, strong, beautiful, and just enough.”Who are these people? Who’s face?“The face with no expression is borrowed from old Buddhist painting which has always fascinated me since university. I thought that the face is perfect to conceal their feelings because I don’t want to show directly if these characters are good or bad through their faces. The simple black suit which looks like underwear has been chosen in order to make you only focus on their gestures. I purposely don’t show the time, place or gender.” -- source link
