socialistsephardi: nerdinsomniac: dianaraven: atheistcartoons: I think it’s romantic that hardcore Jews, Christians and Muslims can find some common ground and move forward… together. Wow it’s almost like you’re an athiest who actually has no fucking idea how Judaism works. Thanks for your imput. Are you fucking kidding me? You are putting your ignorance display two-fold. First of all, as @dianaraven put it, you announced to the world that you have no idea how Jewish law and theology work, and I’m going to assume that you know little about Christianity and Islam as well (for the record, most Jews do not believe that LGBT people are going to hell–we have specific parameters for who we believe goes to hell and being LGBT isn’t one of them). Secondly, you showed your ignorance about how our religious communities actually interact, you know, outside of your little bubble of hate. While yes, there are those who hate anyone of a different religion, they are in the extreme minority. It is sentiments like this–sentiments of division and attempted public shaming, that further drive the wedge between peoples. Fuck off A lot of Jews are queer. Almost every branch of Judaism is friendly towards our community. As a queer Jew, OP can go fuck themself. We also do not believe in Hell. At all. Hell is not a Jewish concept. I know plenty of Jews who are way more observant than I, and I’m pretty observant, who are 100% okay with me and my ilk. In my neighborhood we have a chabad (Lubavitch?) women who is 100000% lgbt AF and most of her kids are hella gay and they host things for queer Jews, Shabbat meals, meet ups, that sorta stuff. Fuck you OP for invalidating queer people of faith. Our faith and our identity are not in conflict. I take issue with this post. What you’re saying just isn’t true in my experience. Homophobia exists in the Jewish community, especially in the orthodox community in the Ashkenazi world and in a lot of the Sephardi world. Pretending it doesn’t exist doesn’t help queer Jews. -- source link
