When I rescued her off Craig’s List seven years ago, she was a 90’s triathlon speed machine. Her previous owner had given her Syntace aero bars, neon pink carbon Look peddles and panda grip tape. I still rock the neon Look pedals on my road bike, they’re the kind of awesome that transcends time. Her first build as my commuter had pink bull horns (from the original Syntace set), a rear pannier rack, pink tires and black cage pedals. That build was awkward and uncomfortable but the colors were rad. I recently finished this extensive rebuild, and I love it. She’s super fast, comfortable and really fun. I actually get (mildly) excited about riding to work now. I consider myself pretty knowledgable about bikes and was surprised by how much time it took me to spec everything, it was a bigger task than I had anticipated. Like all rebuilds, she’s a work in progress. Eventually I’ll add a more attractive crankset and some day find a basket that looks as nice as the Linus one that doesn’t require braze-ons. Time to go practice wheelies on her! -- source link
