The ruling paves the way for discriminatory practices against LGBT people to be challenged in the courts.” (read more) This is such a huge deal! It affects 1.3 billion people. As much as I want this to be true it isn’t this article is very misleading it is still very much illegal to do gay acts in India still punishable under sec 377 … i assume this article is talking about the right to privacy in article 21 of the Indian Constitution with regards to Aadhaar . Many activists do believe that they can use this ruling to target or go against Section 377 in that way I guess using privacy as a fundamental right. But honestly Section 377 still in effect and it is very much still illegal to be gay in India. Also on a sidenote how this relates to trans people can be different as India has a very different relationship with gender identity compare to the Western world -- source link
