Finished and sent to its forever home. This was a commission from my cousin. His wife is Chinese. He wanted “something with koi fish.” ‘Nuff said, but man, it wasn’t easy finding a lot of Asian fabric around town. Some of it was actually from Oklahoma. My other cousin was at a quilt show & had me on Facetime. I saw two fabrics that I liked and had her buy them for me, and I sent her the cash. I also raided JoAnn’s for fabric, too.The pattern if CozyQuilt’s Paper Lanterns. (I’ve made it before.) Each block is 6.5″ square, so with a 12x13 grid, it’s a big quilt. All the half-square triangles on the borders are the “waste” cut from making the block. I cut them down to 2″ squares, and pieced them together. The sides have them all going one direction, the top and bottom are alternating directions. All the quilting is free motion meandering with a rainbow variegated thread. The back has most all the scrap pieces from the quilt, as well as a large swath of Tula Pink’s Linework, “Pandamonium.” He absolutely loved the quilt. I was on Facetime when he opened it. He later said, “the girls were fighting over it from day one. That quilt is a whole new level of comfort. Feels good for my soul.”Even the dog likes it. -- source link
