Still thinking of ideas to keep my concept very minimalist, I go about exploring other structures… These some thoughts which are helping me to generate some ideas: - Fabric architecture - Design can be influenced by the forms of fabric, but this is where the structure becomes physical, which is something I’m moving away from. - Air structures, inflatable structures - Air structures could be different, but then the emphasis lies on the outside, inflated structure, rather than what lies inside. - Temporary architecture, such as the serpentine pavilions - It could be of vital use to research the construction details of pavilions, as she might want her showroom to be changing with each collection… - Kinetic architecture - This is something that caught my interest the most. I did research on a project named ‘Metamorphosis Shimmer’ by Philips Design Probes. The space is transformative, it is flexible. The movement of the membrane allows for the transformation of the interior, along with the entrance of light. The membrane is altered by a system of cables connected to a small motors with a gearbox. This concept is something that I could use for the showroom space, and thats because I want the structure of the space to be ever changing with the continuous flow of the fabric. I do have to keep in mind weather conditions, as the showroom space is separate from the studio, thus keeping this fabric inside a glass box could be interesting… -- source link
