peashooter85:The Mosin Nagant 8mm Blindee conversion,After World War I there were large amounts of surplus Mosin Nagant rifles floating around Europe. However, ammunition supplies soon dried up as Russia isolated itself from the rest of the world under Stalin. As a result a number of small firms in Liege, Belgium began buying up old stocks of Mosin Nagants and converting them to 8X57 Mauser, a more common cartridge from Germany which was used around the world. Called the 8mm Blindee, the conversion involved some rechambering, reworking of the extractor to eject a non-rimmed cartridge, and occasionally replacement of the sights. The charger bridge was also modified to accept 5 round Mauser stripper clips. Markings can be found on the side of the chamber, with “8mm Blindee P.V.” behind the rear sight, as well as a number of factory and Belgian proof markings.Originally marketed to China and countries in South America, few were sold. However the conversion Nagant became popular among Republican forces during the Spanish Civil War. -- source link
