I tried to open a discussion about this on my FB, and all these white guys - very old friends of mine I’ve known since we were rebellious teenagers - who have never once faced institutional oppression or systemic injustice started to weigh in on why it was perfectly fine to have the police kitted out like the military because it’s SO important for police to be safe.Not ONE fucking word about civilians being safe from police, because they don’t even understand that that is a THING. I don’t even know how to respond to them. They live in an *entirely* different world, and *don’t even know it*. Makes me ill. -- source link
