thejenmonster: bentheechidna: daintytea: lovingyouisredforyou: poppypicklesticks: logicsomething: i’m lucky enough to have encountered a barista malicious enough to do this to me - i ordered a decaf latte with soy milk and they gave me fully caffeinated with cow’s milk. cue hours of panic attacks and feeling sick. ugh Why do some baristas think its adorable and clever to dick around with people’s specifications? They can kill someone with allergies with this shit. Last summer, I had a stomach infection (sorry, gross, I know) and could hardly eat any sugar at all. After I went to doctors appointments, I’d gotten into the routine of stopping at a nearby coffee shop and getting a sugar free soy latte (because I’m also lactose intolerant). Whenever I gave that order to a certain barista, she would roll her eyes and be kind of rude, but I was like whatever. Then one day, I gave my order and my drink tasted a little better, but I didn’t really think anything of it until I overheard her whispering to another barista something like “I made that girl’s drink with regular syrup and whole milk, I’m so sick of these bitches getting soy and sugar free when they’re not even fat” like she had done something really awesome and clever. I was horribly sick for the rest of the day. it’s not uncommon at all for baristas to give me whole milk when I ask for soy. and for me, that just means I get a bad tummy ache, but for some people, that could actually kill them. So yeah, people who do this shit should really lose their jobs. [EDIT: Sorry, I didn’t realize the first blog who’d commented was an fatphobic blog. Deleted comment from asshole.] purposely putting in another kind of milk in is not okay. You don’t know if they’re allergic or what and you can seriously fuck up someone. Honestly you should go in there and raise hell. And I don’t mean being rude or nasty. I mean you should ask to speak to a manager and tell them that you were sick by this. That’s how you get these assholes fired. This is some legit shit. I’ve had it happen to me before where I got regular milk in my coffees when I ask for silk. My stomach cannot handle straight-up milk anymore, and definitely not warm milk. I only get bad diarrhea after that, but the fact that there are dumb bitches out there who let out their low self-esteem by fucking with coffee orders - or food orders in general - pisses me the fuck off. It’s just a thing you DON’T DO. Reblogging this because I am a barista, and while I don’t do this, I do know that it is done. And I want to give a message to all the baristas who do this to people: Get over yourselves. 1) You don’t know what that person’s health concerns might be. Maybe they ordered decaf because they have a heart condition. Soy because they’re allergic to dairy. Sugar free syrup because they’re diabetic. You just don’t know, and making the stupid decision to make them a drink opposite of what they order is not only petty and douchey, but it’s also extremely hazardous to your customer’s health. You could even kill someone. Is that worth your “defiance”? 2) It is not INCONVENIENT to make drinks a different way. Oh, boo hoo, you have to reach down and get the soy milk out of the refrigerator instead of using the 2% that’s already there. Oh, boo hoo, you have to reach six inches over the full sugar syrup to pump the sugar-free syrup. Boo hoo, you have to hit the decaf button instead of the regular espresso button (or grind decaf instead, if you use a manual machine). Seriously, it is not a big fucking deal. And of course, double boo hoo for having to write it all on the cup. Shut up. It is not inconvenient. 3) You’re probably actually making more money off of their drink anyway. I don’t know about where you work, but where I work we charge a little extra for soy and sugar-free syrups, so you should be thanking the people that order those drinks. They’re raising the income for your store, which ultimately benefits you, you ungrateful little bitch. But honestly, I should not have had to list any of these reasons other than number one. Think about your customer - you don’t know them. You don’t know their health concerns. You don’t have the right to bitch about doing your job, which they are directly paying you to do, and you definitely don’t have the right to put someone’s health at risk. So yeah. Get the fuck over yourself and grow up. It’s your JOB. Do your goddamn JOB, or find a different one. -- source link
