welcometohellweofferimagines: CastlevaniaAdrian Tepes [ Alucard ]A twig snaps. It is the first warning of his presence; his slight-footed approach never alerting you until he’s crouched down beside you. His arm first appears in your peripheral, as he picks the same mushrooms in your hands from the ground; it brushes your own arm, warm, a surprise when you’d expected him to be cold as ice.“I wouldn’t eat these if I were you,” he says, voice smooth, remnants of an exhausted wrath subsiding just enough for some amusement to lighten his tone. “They’re not particularly kind to humans.”You glance down at the mushrooms gathered in your apron. You could swear these are the very same you’d been shown in your grandmother’s book.“They’re poisonous?” you ask timidly.“Something of the sort.” Your gazes meet, but you cannot hold it for long; catching a mere glimpse of golden irises that shimmer in the waning sunlight. It’s growing dark, you realise, dread pooling in the pit of your stomach. “I’m sorry,” you whisper. He has no time to ask what for when you rise to your feet, releasing the edges of your apron to allow the mushrooms to fall to the forest floor — each thud loud in your ears — as you turn and run. You’ve not got far when he appears before you. A long arm reaches out, the impact of his hand harder than he’d intended — it knocks against your shoulder, sending you sprawling backwards onto the dirt. The breath is knocked out of you, and you struggle to sit up. This is what you’d feared. What your elders had warned you not to allow: “Do not wander far, child. Lest you wish to be bled dry.”The fear overwhelms. You begin to cry, clutching at your aching shoulder, mumbling apologies in hopes that he would not do to you what you’ve known he’s done to many — mount your corpse outside his castle to rot.“Why?” he simply asks, crouching down in front of you.His hand reaches out for your shoulder, gently moving the fingers that grasp it aside to help massage some of the pain away. It’s as shocking as your discovery of his warm skin. You look up at him in alarm. “For— for taking your mushrooms.” The dhampir smiles. It looks unpractised, alien on his face; muscles twitching as if confused of how to make such an expression after too long a time without. He drops it just as quick. “They’re not mine. They belong to the forest. Take what you want. But do not take those which will harm you.” His gaze lifts from your shoulder to your eyes, and this time you don’t look away. The sun is setting, shadows fall across his features. He has an eerie beauty. But he is but half a vampire; dirt scatters across his smooth skin. You catch a glimpse of fangs when he asks, “Are you afraid of me?” His hand stills on your shoulder. The grip isn’t tight, isn’t meant to inspire fear, but his fingers flex, just enough of a pressure to cause your body to shudder. Your gaze falls to his long, sharp nails. He could tear you to shreds, if he wanted to.“Yes,” you whisper honestly. Alucard considers you a moment. It’s just a moment. But it feels too long. Then, he nods. “Good,” he says. And then he is gone. I claim no credit for the gifs. All credit goes to their wonderful creators. xx -- source link
