The first few nights here, we ate at CoCo-Ichiban and Bamiyan. CoCo’s is not your US neighborhood CoCo’s, so don’t be fooled! It is one of the many Japanese curry places here in Yokosuka. It is also NOT your expected Indian curry. Here you choose your meat, quantity (grams) of rice, and the level of spicyness for your curry. You can also add more to your plate such as an omelette, or if you want to be a bit more daring, a quail’s egg. Personally, I haven’t had a lot of curry in my time so I didn’t have any expectations when I tried this place. My usual is fried shrimp, 200 grams rice, and mild curry. Japanese curry is a must try, and don’t forget to be a little adventurous! Bamiyan is Chinese cuisine outside of our main gate. From an Area Orientation Brief I went to, it is told to also be the easiest place to slowly integrate into Japanese food. They serve everything from ramen to a spicy rice plate that my husband prefers. Although you can’t read the menu, the pictures are enough to decide and point to what you would like to eat. I tried a vegetable dish my first time and ramen on my second. The neat thing here is that you push a button when you are ready to order. Take your time, relax, be sure of your menu choice, then push the button to order away! -- source link
