hencethebravery: my girl, linen and curls…lips parted like a flag all unfurled, she’s grand, the bend of her handdigging deep into the sweep of the sand. The princess had always harbored a fierce longing for the sea, as if it were an unattainable suitor; a bold, fickle thing that ebbed and flowed against the jagged rocks beneath her window. On the edges of the stone sill were thick, crystalline layers of salt. As a girl, she had developed the somewhat ill-advised habit of swiping a pink, wet fingertip along the edge and bringing it to her lips in order to catch a taste. Her pirate’s lips were always sharp, and bitter, and tasted vaguely of blood and seawater. A far cry from the stone dry saltiness of her long forgotten tower. Her family would call it a kidnapping, but she was too smart for that; too strong, too willful—not enough caution. She had wanted to escape, and there she had been, ripe for the picking. The pirate captain with the long, thick dark hair. The pirate captain and the pirate ship with all that deep, dark oak—the heavy, aged sails that they rode into every storm they could find. She had been born a princess, but the rough, unforgivable waves of the ocean had crowned her anew. A pirate’s life for me. An OG gift for the princess to my pirate, @captainwiley. xo -- source link
