“Nevertheless, she persisted!” . . Where do I even began? Everyone who knows me knows this has been one of the most strenuous, longest journeys I have ever been on. I started pursing my career towards Respiratory Therapy a year before having my first child. During that time, I’ve battled post-partum depression from having a child early and in the nicu. I’ve had to work, go to school (sometimes two schools at once), just trying to get into this program. The moment I did get in the Elac-SMC RT program I was so happy and thankful. Not knowing how tough this would actually be. There were so many times I wanted to call it quits… maybe this just isn’t for me. I’m missing out on time with my family, friends, and even money when I went per diem just to keep up in school. Just went I thought this was almost over… here comes COVID-19, my father having a stroke, and a whole racial equality revolution !!! Talk about stress… but still I made it. I wear many hats and now it’s finally time to give up one: student! . . I am so thankful to those who stuck with me through the years and continue to encourage me to this day. I hope I can inspire many women especially black women to pursue an education in the medical field. WE are desperately needed. We have to advocate for our people and be sure we are being treated fairly as others. Again thank you so much. I am officially graduating with an associates degree in Respiratory Therapy as well as an associate of arts in Natural Sciences ✌degreeeeeesss!!! Thanks for following me journey and don’t worry there’s more to come!!! : work bff Tina Lander @adventure_on_the_mind (at East Los Angeles College) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBW9q_ZA4un/?igshid=wer7b91yv5y1 -- source link
