amortentiafashion: The Mulciber women once had the longest hair of all the witches in Britain, and they were proud of it. Sometimes they would coil their hair into elaborate nests for twittering glass birds, or transfigure half a dozen braids into hissing snakes, or charm flowers to fall from their curls when they bounced as they walked. But mostly, they left their hair down, dark and shining in the glow of the Mulciber Estate’s floating chandeliers. Of all the Mulciber women, Cecily was the youngest, only 19 and with a keen interest in stitch magic. But the Mulcibers’ greatest enemies were the Fawleys, some debt or a slight long in the past inciting a twenty-year feud between them. And Antonius Fawley took it upon himself to snip off a strand of Cecily’s hair at the Malfoy Christmas Ball. The strand was not missed until Antonius used it to brew a potion to bring Cecily under his will. Cecily, bespelled, killed her father, sister, and nephew before managing to shake off the enchantment and take her own life before she could again be forced to kill. In the aftermath, the surviving Mulciber witches cut off their hair to honor Cecily’s bravery and prevent the reoccurrence of such a tragedy. Even now, no wix of the name Mulciber has locks longer than their shoulders.(photo: Belle Johnson) -- source link
