evolutionsvoid: He was a frail and scrawny man, one who was never fit for the battlefield. Ever since he was a boy, he dreamed of becoming a mighty warrior and facing off against legendary foes. Sadly, his form was ill-fitting for such a life. He was too weak and sickly to don the armor and blade. No matter how hard he tried, he would never be strong enough to join the ranks. All he could do was help around the village and watch everyone else go on and live his dream. That was until he caught wind of a legend, and went forth to find the lost artifact. With it in hand, he bested every warrior he came across, and no foe could withstand his might. With the withered limb in hand, he robbed his enemies of their strength and skill, and used it to cut them down. But as he carved through the ranks and gloated over his victories, the artifact’s blessing turned against him. His form became even more weak and sickly, and his own limbs atrophied into useless nubs. Through his hunger for power and glory, he became a victim to Envy’s Hand. No longer the mighty hero he once thought himself to be, this horrid creature now shuffles through the dark woods and forgotten places. Though his humanity is gone, he still yearns for power and strength, but now his must steal it from others. With his blade and vile magic, he takes the arms and hands of his victims and uses them as his own. Puppeteered by infernal magic, these limbs now obey his will and aid in claiming more victims. With hardly a word or gesture, he can send them after his prey, the flying limbs seeking to pin them down for their master. If they prove troublesome, he will awaken the memories of the stolen limbs and use his magic to summon the weapons they once wielded. Blades, bows and spells will be replicated by his noxious energy, and the limbs will wield them with the same skill and efficiency as they once had long before. Battalions and platoons may try to cut down this wretched creature, but how can any man fight an army of living weapons? Who could withstand the might of ancient heroes and beasts now mimicked by stolen flesh? Though his stolen limbs give him great power, they are not immune to the ravages of time and decay. As he travels and hunts, his precious limbs will begin to fester and rot, their power weakening as their flesh falls away. In time, they will become as useless as his own hands, and he will have no choice but to abandon the rotted remains. He must acquire new ones and keep his collection stocked with the best hands and arms he can find. Simple beggars and pitiful villagers mean nothing to him, as their limbs have no skill or power. Instead, he seeks out strength and talent to steal. Hands of skilled mages and arms of the mightiest monster hunters. Even beasts are not safe from him, as their claws and tendrils are weapons he can easily wield. As long as the limb holds deadly power, he will lust for it. Those of great fame and renown should be wary of this shambling thing, as he shall be ready with blade and magic to take what he can never truly have… Keep reading -- source link
