Stenciled Decorations on Plaster Walls, Ground Floor Hallway, Library of Congress, Washington, DC, 2014.In a city mostly noted for the stark neo-classicism of many government buildings, the interior of the LC is, to coin a new style name, “gilded age rococo.” In more than a few ways, its Thomas Jefferson Building is the most interesting government building in the city, and not just for the treasures it houses. Well worth a visit, especially from now through mid-January when the library is hosting an exhibit with one of the 4 copies of the Magna Carta. -- source link
