The East India Company was first founded in 1600 under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. By 1800 it controlled half of the British Empire’s trade and employed one third of the workforce of England. During Queen Victoria’s reign the company was dissolved and all power passed to the Crown. Fast forward to 2005 and business man Sanjiv Mehta bought the company relaunching it in 2010 with a focus on fine foods. This year The East India Company adds fashion to it’s roster, debuting an exquisite collection in Paris. Aimed at a red carpet customer these beautiful hand beaded gowns showcase the beauty of Indian embroidery. Helen Seamons -- source link
