In a procrastinatory fit I scrolled all the way back to the inception of my tumblr, back to riiiight before I moved to Japan in 2014. Then I found this photo I took of the Culture Shock Cycle graph from the JET orientation book. Despite my cheeky comment about it last year, this was 100% correct for me. The pit of despair in my time here was Dec 2014/Jan 2015. It’s been more of a gradually up and up since then, but new JETs please take care and know that your feelings about your time here are on a big cycle and when you’re in the trough it will get better, eventually. -- source link
