jointhegirlgang: Hey, gang. Things have been quiet here for awhile and we’re so grateful for your patience. As we took a break to take care of ourselves and contemplate the future of this amazing community, some changes were made to Tumblr. We’re sure you know what we’re talking about, and like many of you we don’t like it. We need everyone in this community to feel safe and welcome, not judged or censored. (It’s worth noting that of the thousands of posts we have, all the ones that were flagged depicted woc.) We’ve thought about it long and hard and we’ve decided to take this community to a new platform. From now on, #girlgang will be a newsletter-based community. Our twitter account will stay active and we’re adding an instagram account to our repertoire. Our content will come to your inbox, twitter feed, and instagram feed. You’ll be able to communicate with us via our email or hitting reply on our newsletters. You’ll be able to communicate with each other via our social media outlets. We think this will be a huge step to making sure it is our community, not a corporation, that drives our content. We’re going to have all the things you’ve come to expect from us: inclusive feminist content, amazing news about outstanding female, femme, and non-binary individuals, and our witty commentary on every bit of it. We’ll have book and media recommendations, art (properly sourced!), and links to though-provoking writing. We also intend to start work right away on bringing back our favorite projects like #girlgang voices and IDGAF Fridays.
