hotshoeagain:hungry4johnlock:thelostsmiles:johnlock meme — quiet moments - ⅕ No but guys, what if it wasn’t actually about him never being someone’s best friend. What if the pause and the blinking was because his heart was breaking and he was trying to hold it together. Like it’s bad enough your not marrying me but now you expect me to help you marry someone else. In the time he is staring and blinking he is in his mind palace screaming in agony with tears running down his face like in TLD. At the end he realises this is what John wants and of course whatever John wants he will give him. So in the end he pulls himself together and makes up the whole thing about never having a best friend to save face. Thanks for pointing that out. There’s panic in Sherlock’s eyes. First disbelief: are you really asking me to help you marry that woman who is going to take you away from me? Then panic: I can’t possibly hold it together. And I don’t dare fall apart in front of John, not now. Then a gulp of resolve: if that’s what you want from me, I will give you everything I can to make you happy, John. Looking at it, there is absolutely no way that it’s just the “surprise” of being named as John’s best friend. And of course he makes up the story about “best friends” to cover the real emotion, because he won’t/can’t tell John the truth. The writers have John (and Mary, naturally) mistreat Sherlock before, during, and after the wedding. So painful. Cringe-worthy to witness. Reasons why I rate TSoT as the worst episode. Yes, even worse that what I saw of the shitshow S4. -- source link
