I have a major sushi craving right now.Sushi is probably my favorite food, and I want some now. The problem is that where I live, a very heavily wooded rural area, there is none to be had. I have to travel about 100 miles to the nearest city to get it. So its a rare treat for me.A wish a sushi joint would set up nearby but it will never happen. The people around here would never go for it. I get squeemish looks every time I mention it. Occasionally I get condescending looks, like “how can you that raw shit!" The funny thing is that this is coming from people who commonly eat lots of wild game, and weird things like turkey gizzards, dear heart (Oh my God, now I have a craving for that too), liver, pigs feet, you name it. But raw fish rolled in rice, nah. I often want to bring this point up when I get comments like "fish bait” but I can never make them understand the joys of raw saltwater fish. The delicateness of it, the flavor of the sea, the freshness. That brings up another point, many mention the dangers of food poisoning from eating raw fish. I bring up how I eat it at every possible opportunity and have never gotten sick, ever! But how many people get sick from our local restaurants and school cafeterias, which serve improperly prepared, trucked in, frozen, overcooked, fatty, greasey, shit.Damn I could go for a good tuna or eel roll right now! -- source link
