A Dutch rendering of the Porcelain Tower of Nanjing, 1665. The tower was built during the Ming Dynasty in China, in the early 1400s. The tower was a tourist attraction both for Chinese people and for European visitors, who referred to it as one of the wonders of the world. The tower was one of the tallest buildings in China – 260 feet high – and covered in porcelain panels that reflected the sunlight. It was destroyed in the mid-1800s during the Taiping Rebellion.{WHF} {HTE} {Medium} -- source link
