MemorialDay for many symbolizes the beginning of the summer season. Now that all thebeaches, parks, and open-air markets are reopening for the season, it’s time toreassess your summer wardrobe. #BKMLibraryhas some suggestions from the HenriBendel sketch collection. The collection is a visual record of everygarment imported by Henri Bendel Inc. from 1912 through 1950, offering a uniqueview into the development of the school of American fashion design. The Bendel collectionholds over 11,255 sketches, so you are bound to find inspiration for swimsuits,daydresses, and eveningdresses. Nope, we didn’t forget that it’s wedding season—we got you coveredthere too!TheBendel digital images are made available through a collaborative initiativebetween the staff and volunteers working in the Brooklyn Museum Library and theDigital Collections and Services department. The sketches are digitized by twodedicated volunteers who create valuable metadata to ensure easy access anddiscoverability.
