fierceawakening:kyraneko:fierceawakening:sonneillonv:lagonegirl:Super fucked up! wtf is wrong with these people? #IamWithMili! What is every little girl supposed to have long hair in a ponytail? So happy to see all of the support going her way.Everybody remembers that we absolutely knew this would happen, right?Like, trans people predicted this from the start. Everyone was SO SURE they could identify us on sight, and we said “If you run with that assumption you’re going face-first into a goddamn wall” and here we go.Butch women were ALREADY getting harassed in bathrooms. Did the terves care? They sure didn’t seem to, however much they pontificated about butches being a rare breed we must protect at all costs. This was predictable. This was preventable.Anybody else remember that one lesbian wedding photoshoot post, where somebody just DECIDED that one of the brides was trans, and people started reading into shit like her collarbones to insist that she was “really a man?”Like they’ve unlocked some sort of oppression-themed evolutionary leap where being trans is no longer a fact-based situation but something you can accuse people of being and then they are, despite any and all proof to the contrary within the scope of your harassment of them, and there’s nothing behind it but creating targets just to shoot at them—I mean this sort of situation is a bigot’s absolute dream, where one’s stigma of choice can be applied at random or at whim far beyond the bounds of whatever group of people one is attempting to designate the pariah class.YES. OH MY GOD. THE COLLARBONES.I had another online friend people were like this with–she was a cis, femme lesbian, but had facial features that looked “masculine,” and was older (for some reason people interpret older women who look it as masculine somehow), and people accused her of being a trans woman (as though there would have been something wrong with this) *all the time*.The trans person ended up being… her husband, who went on testosterone a few years after I met them.You. Cannot. Tell. Witch hunt. McCarthyism. That’s the concept I was looking for. A type of accusation where the mere suggestion creates reasonable suspicion, and where protestations of innocence are looked upon as (further) proof of guilt. -- source link
