onceuponarrow: outoftheclosetshipper: You know what I love most about this scene? It’s not Oliver acknowledging and marveling at Felicity’s strength – though I love him for that (and the writers for making him say that to her). It’s not Felicity saying that she learned from him. It’s not even his cute reaction to her response. I loved all of those, of course. But the thing I loved most about this scene was the underlying definition of strength in their conversation. When Oliver asked Felicity, “How did you get to be so strong?”, he didn’t mean her physical strength, but her emotional wherewithal to persevere, to understand, to survive. And when she tells him that she took her lead from him, she’s not referring to the fighting prowess and the physical strength he had exhibited for most of the episode. No, she’s referring to what really makes Oliver Queen so strong – his emotional wherewithal to persevere, to survive, to live and to love. That’s what she learned from him – what it takes to be strong. And, if I didn’t love this couple so much already, I would have fallen in love with them in this very scene. I think I might have fallen in love with all over again because of this moment. Oh god, just thinking about their emotional strength is making me cry. The two of them are so strong. If it wasn’t for these 2 characters and the beautiful way Stephen and Emily portray them I wouldn’t be watching this show. -- source link
